Traveller terms of booking
The rules that apply when you book an experience through Xplore Mondo. Written in plain English, and binding on both of us.
Last updated August 31, 2026
1. Who you are contracting with
Xplore Mondo operates this platform, takes your payment and provides traveller support. The experience itself is delivered by an independent local operator, named on every activity page together with its legal name, registered address and VAT number once verification is complete.
Xplore Mondo acts as the operator's booking and payment agent and is the merchant of record for the card transaction. The operator is responsible for the guide, tickets, equipment, safety and insurance on the day.
2. Multi-experience itineraries and package travel
You can book several experiences from one itinerary in a single checkout. Where a combination of travel services you buy in one transaction qualifies as a package or a linked travel arrangement under EU Directive 2015/2302 and its Italian implementation, additional statutory protections apply, including organiser responsibility and insolvency protection.
Xplore Mondo currently sells single travel services (tours, activities and experiences) and does not sell transport or accommodation. If that changes, the applicable package-travel status and the mandatory information form will be shown before payment. Nothing on this page limits your statutory rights.
3. Booking and confirmation
- A booking exists only once Stripe reports the payment as succeeded and we send you a voucher by email.
- A card redirect, a pending payment or an unpaid itinerary is never a confirmed booking and never holds a spot.
- Some experiences are "on request". The activity page says so, and the operator confirms within 24 hours. If the operator declines, you are refunded in full.
- Departures in the past, or inside the operator's booking cut-off, cannot be booked. Times are the local time of the experience (Europe/Rome for Italian departures).
4. Prices, taxes and currency
- All prices are displayed and charged in euro (€) including Italian VAT where it applies.
- Your card issuer may apply its own conversion rate and foreign transaction fee; we do not receive those.
- Xplore Mondo keeps a commission of 15–20% of the booking value, set in the operator's partner agreement. You never pay this on top of the displayed price.
- Optional extras charged locally by the operator are listed under "Not included" on the activity page.
5. Changes, cancellations and refunds
- Each experience shows its own cancellation window. Cancel before the cut-off and the published percentage is refunded to your original card, normally within 5–10 business days.
- Inside the cut-off the booking is normally non-refundable, because guides and entry tickets are already committed.
- If the operator cancels, the weather makes the experience unsafe, or the experience differs materially from what we published, you choose between a full refund and a free move to another date.
- No-shows and arrivals outside the operator's stated grace period are not refundable.
- The EU 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to leisure services provided on a specific date (Consumer Rights Directive, Article 16(l)). The cancellation terms above apply instead.
6. Your responsibilities
- Give accurate traveller names, ages and contact details; some operators check ID at the meeting point.
- Tell us about accessibility needs, allergies or medical conditions before booking so we can check suitability.
- Arrive at the published meeting point at the published time and follow reasonable safety instructions.
- Respect minimum ages and any restrictions listed under "Not allowed" on the activity page.
7. Reviews
Only travellers with a completed booking for that experience can leave a review, and every published review is labelled as verified. We do not buy, incentivise or edit reviews. We remove reviews that contain personal data, abuse or content unrelated to the experience.
8. Liability
Xplore Mondo is liable for the booking, payment and information services it provides. The operator is liable for the delivery of the experience, including the conduct of its guides and the safety of its equipment.
Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded under Italian or EU consumer law.
9. Complaints and dispute resolution
Raise problems on the day with the operator and with us at support@xploremondo.com. We acknowledge within 24 hours, and operators must respond within 5 business days. Where an experience was misrepresented we can compensate out of our commission.
These terms are governed by Italian law. As a consumer you keep the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence and to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform.
